When I joined the RPG Foundation, I had moved from the Banking Industry to Philanthropy. My mind was in overdrive mode. I wanted to prove myself and do well. At that time, my boss told me something that left a mark on me. She said "You need to slow down. You must focus on learning. You don't need to prove anything or try to prove that you are adding value. You must focus on identifying your passion areas and take up projects that you feel passionate about." This lesson became my turning point. It not only made me happy but also helped me enjoy my work. I started operating on passion rather than fear. When you work without fear? It brings out the best in you.
This is my third year at RPG Foundation, and I can say with confidence that I love what I do, and I can wake up looking forward to my work every single day. For many reasons. Here are a few: I have a boss who is my cheerleader. She has given me opportunities to grow and represent her on a global scale. My colleagues are my friends. They are very kind. My work has a direct impact. I can see that our Functional English sessions are helping a less privileged girl child speak more confidently. I can see that our work around heritage sites is empowering women entrepreneurs to start their own businesses. I can see that our weaving and dyeing workshops have financially empowered women who had no prior source of income. All of these reasons and many more, bring immense joy and a feeling of deep satisfaction to me. When I look back at my journey? I know that at every step, I have been a part of something meaningful, filled with purpose and bigger than me.
