Spencer's invades households via CESC bills
THE INDIAN EXPRESS, KOLKATA, 30.06.2007

Sumi Roy Choudhury regularly steps into the swanky new Spencer's super store that has recently been opened near her residence. Armed with a discount coupon, she seems happy to have done away with the daily haggling with the sellers at the local bazaar. Retail giant Spencer's is now invading households in Kolkata via CESC electric bills. In this way, Spencer's will have a guaranteed access to the CESC's huge customer-base of over 21.5 lakh households. With both Spencer's and CESC being RPG enterprises, the CESC has given Spencer's an obvious edge over other retail chains operating in the city. Consumers, on their part, could benefit from the discounts on the diverse array of products that come as a mailer with the CESC.
