The RPG collection of contemporary Bengal art was displayed at the prestigious National Gallery of Modern Art, (NGMA), Mumbai, in July-August 2003. The show comprised a selection of more than 150 works of art by nearly 35 acclaimed artists of Bengali origin.

The exhibition was a rare opportunity for art lovers to view Bengal art in its diverse moods. The art highlights the important contribution of artists of Bengali origin who live and work out of Kolkata, Santiniketan and other parts of Bengal, as well as other art capitals in the country.
A few upcoming Indian artists, who feature in the RPG collection of modern and contemporary art, were also invited to contribute towards a site-specific panel/installation featuring icons of Bengal. These included Sanjay Bhattacharya, Samir Mondal, and Paresh Maity, who created a 27-feet long work of art, one of the largest paintings conceived; and Ajay De whose installation depicted the street life of Kolkata.
